Thanks to modern love, Kylie and Zach met online! The funny part of that is a glaring example of how technology can be very different depending on age! Kylie was using Plenty of Fish the app and getting these exceedingly long messages from Zach wondering how he had time to sit on his phone typing her these novels! On the other side of the screen though, was Zach typing away on his COMPUTER. 7 years age difference never seemed bigger than when Kylie was using the dating phone app while Zach the adult was using a computer. Thanks to their mutual passion for teaching, beer, and sunsets by the beach, they hit it off! Kylie's cleverly crafted Harry Potter themed headline worked like a charm to reel in her wizard, and there never again was a need to conjure up a love potion.

The story of their engagement! Zach planned a secret getaway trip for Kylie's 26 birthday and told her to pack outfits for any kind of activity. They dropped off their dog Cooper and headed south, to San Diego! Upon arriving Saturday at the Bristol Hotel, Zach pulled out two tickets to the Dodgers vs. Padres at Petco Park! They walked around town to the stadium and got their beer and tan on inside the stadium. Later that night as Kylie was in the bathroom getting ready to go out for dinner, Zach pulled out the special bottle of wine he had snuck into his suitcase. This wine had been saved for over a year since the birthday trip Kylie planned for Zach in Lompoc; they kept claiming they wanted to wait for a special occasion. Of course Kylie said no way was a 26th birthday cool enough or exciting enough for the fancy wine, but hey, neither of them turn down a drink! Minutes later Kylie walked out of the bathroom to see that Zach had set up an entire scene in front of an open window overlooking downtown San Diego, complete with a beautiful sunset. Zach had the wine opened and two glasses perfectly set out, then he opened the ice bucket to reveal a box and said he hoped we'd celebrate a little more than just a birthday. Wine was had, some happy tears shed, and the two decided to keep their engagement a secret and just between them for the night before the circus of telling everyone. The next day they walked all over the city and ended up at Balboa Park where they began texting the family; Kylie had to be carefully guided across streets as she was so distracted by how SPARKLY her new ring was. The surprises weren't over just yet, Zach the sneaky romantic had one more activity planned. Kylie's favorite band Chicago was playing just across the street from their hotel. Dodgers, wine, walking, parks, bands, and sparkly things to all cap off the weekend where Kylie and Zach decided their mischief was managed.
