How We Met

Our Invisible String

The Invisible String Theory is described as, "a romantic, fatalistic concept suggesting that people destined to be in our lives—soulmates or close friends—are connected by an unseen thread, guiding them together across time, distance, and circumstances." This "invisible string" is the only way we can describe how we entered a relationship together. Throughout our lives, we were not that far apart, but never found each other until that perfect moment. We found out later that our perfect person was always in the background and this love story was just waiting to start. Our favorite example of this is how we both frequented Oakville Park in Mayfield Heights when we were children. We both felt like we were there almost every nice day in early childhood. Both of our grandmothers would walk us there constantly. Stephen's Oma Javorek would pull him along in a little red wagon until he learned to ride a bike up to the park. Kylie remembers her Grandma Petrik holding her hand as they crossed the street and then running ahead of her in excitement to start playing. When reminiscing about those days we tend to wonder, "What if we played together, possibly several times and had no idea it was our future spouse?" Now, we live on that same street and pass that same park daily. There are many examples of this throughout our lives and we found out later that we both had very similar childhoods. Some more examples include Memphis Kiddy Park, Eggshell Land, Safety Town, swim lessons, and PSR at St. Anselm (where we are now getting married!). Stephen started attending West Geauga in middle school but didn't really know Kylie until high school. This is where our friendship later turned into a romantic relationship. Our first date was on June 19, 2019. We have been inseparable and each others best friend ever since.
