Sawyer and I met while working as camp counselors at Coast2Coast Camps. During the summer of 2022, we were both asked to serve as age group leaders, which led to us spending a lot of time together. Even on our days off, we’d stop by camp with coffee or lunch for everyone, and often stayed late cleaning—just to spend a little more time together. Over the course of the summer, I knew something special was forming, but neither of us said anything, knowing I would be moving away for graduate school at the end of the season. In August 2022, I moved to Charleston to attend the Medical University of South Carolina. The very next weekend, Sawyer came to visit while on a family vacation at Fripp Island—under the guise of me “showing him around.” After a day exploring Charleston together, Sawyer was about to head back to Fripp when I realized I couldn’t let him leave without telling him how I felt. Luckily, he felt the exact same way. For the next two years, Sawyer and I did long distance while I completed my studies at MUSC. After countless miles (we stopped counting after 25,000) and many goodbyes, I graduated and moved back home to begin my career—and finally be closer to Sawyer. After a year of living just two miles down the road from one another, Sawyer and I got engaged on December 12th at the top of Clement Loop. We cannot wait to step into this new season of life together, and are so thankful for the family and friends who have supported us every step of the way.
