Kylie moved to Pittsburgh from Arizona in 2016 for nursing school. She graduated and began working at the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Neil had been working for TSA at the Pittsburgh Airport. Flash forward to Thanksgiving of 2017 - Kylie was flying out of the Pittsburgh airport to spend the holiday with her family. She made it home only to find a Facebook message from a cute boy asking her: "I know this may be random, but did you fly out of the Pittsburgh airport yesterday?". Of course Kylie thought she had left something at her gate (very likely) and messaged him back. He explained that he remembered her (he checked her ID and boarding pass), and decided to take a chance and message her! They went on a few dates when she got back into town but ultimately they lost touch. Flash forward almost another year - Summer of 2018. They saw each other out at Kylie's favorite bar in Pittsburgh, Tequila Cowboy. He asked her out (one last time) and of course she agreed (how could she not after seeing those firefighter muscles). Little did they know that date would be each of their last first dates!
Neil had signed up to roll out the American Flag on September 11th with many of the other Pittsburgh Firefighters. Neil told Kylie they were having a practice run on July 11th for the flag roll out at PNC Park, and he promised her if she came with him they could go to brunch afterwards (yay, her favorite!). He told her that the practice was early in the morning and to just "be ready" for brunch afterwards. He drove them down to the stadium (cool as a cucumber - she didn't suspect a thing!) and started walking along the riverfront in North Shore to "meet up with the rest of the firefighters" before the practice. As they were walking, Neil wanted to take a picture (she should've known then something was up- Neil hates taking pictures!). After one selfie attempt Neil decided to ask a "random" man along the river if he would take a picture of them. They were posing for the picture and the next thing Kylie knew, Neil was down on one knee asking her the easiest question she would ever answer. Little did she know, the "random man" along the river walk was one of Neil's friends who he had hired to capture the special moment and he had booked an engagement photoshoot for them!! Afterwards, they popped champagne, put a lock on the bridge over the Allegheny river, and she did still get her brunch- but with a ring and a fiancé! Her family was up at 5am waiting for the Facetime call, which was so special for Kylie. Their friends were in on the surprise too - they were waiting for them at brunch! It was the best, most special day! We can't wait to celebrate with you all - See yinz in Pittsburgh!
