In April of 2019, Kylie saw a picture of Katharine on a mutual friend’s Instagram (how millennial of us) and was instantly smitten. The feeling was reciprocated, but it would be a few months before their paths officially crossed. One August evening Kylie got a text from their mutual friend that said “are you still single?” Kylie immediately jumped on the opportunity to meet Katharine in person. On August 25, 2019, Katharine met Kylie at Dive 106 two hours after landing in New York City from a whirlwind trip to Florida. Katharine, being very nervous she wouldn’t recognize her blind date after a long day of travel, felt instantly relieved when she approached the bar and saw a woman bent over a broken table awkwardly trying to piece it back together and thought “that’s her and she’s perfect”. The jury is still out over whether or not Kylie actually broke the table, but their date was a grand success. Their love story started there and has continued to grow into a faithful and romantic partnership based on late night debates, a mutual love of classic rock and the song Jellicle Cats by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, lots of patience, and even more fun.
