Our Story

When Josh and I were talking about how we met and our story, the two things we kept coming back to were patience and God’s timing. I had moved to Texas from Virginia and was trying to find a church home, while Josh had just started attending Lewisville. Pretty quickly, Kevin L., Sam, and Lib let me know they had met someone they thought I should get to know—date—and maybe even marry. This is where patience and timing come in, because for the next two years we were often in the same places, even at two different Super Bowl parties, yet we never spoke a single word to each other. God was working on both of us separately, preparing and shaping our hearts to glorify Him. When Reach Week, a summer camp, came around, we found ourselves in the same place again—but this time, actual words were exchanged. I was in denial that there was any kind of connection, even though everyone else seemed to see it from a mile away. But God began to change my heart, and very quickly Josh became a permanent part of my life. Four months after officially being together—full of long conversations, lots of laughter, and endless card games—we got engaged. We are both so thankful that God had His plan for our lives, and that the waiting made it all so much sweeter.
