we're getting married !

It all began our sophomore year of high school, long before either of us had any idea where life would take us. I (Kylie) had the biggest crush on the cutest boy in school, James Garcia. And yes, I always said I never wanted to change my last name… so thank you God for that one. Every week in chapel, I’d watch him play drums and guitar, completely mesmerized by him (and still am)! I never worked up the courage to talk to him, and I definitely didn’t think he even knew I existed. But something about him felt different. I had never felt that kind of pull toward anyone before. Then COVID hit, school shut down, and I figured that little crush would just fade into a memory. But God had other plans. Months later, I downloaded Instagram, and somehow James was one of the very first people to follow me. I still remember the way my heart dropped when I saw his name pop up. One day, I posted a story with one of my favorite Elton John songs, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and he swiped up saying how much he loved it too. That tiny moment turned into hours of talking about music - The Beach Boys, The Growlers, classic rock and suddenly something that once felt impossible started to feel real. Not long after, James invited me to play bass in his band for their homecoming performance. Did I know how to play bass? Not even a little. But when you’re falling for someone, you find yourself doing things you never expected. I knew guitar, so I learned fast because there was no chance I was saying no to him. After weeks of texting, late night calls, and getting to know each other as “just friends,” I finally invited him to a family BBQ at my house. That day was the first time we ever talked in person. The moment we locked eyes, everything in me just knew. That night, he asked me out on our first date, and from that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. We feel so lucky to be marrying our first love, our high school sweetheart, our best friend, the person we’ve grown up with. Sharing this moment with the people we love means everything to us. We’ve dreamed about this day since we were fifteen, and now we get to live it together.
