LoveConnquersAll

First comes school, then comes Phoenix, then comes marriage, then comes....The WEDDING!!!

Well we didn't do this thing in the traditional way, but we did it our way, and it is our story. But hey, you know...Love Connquers All! ;)

The Proposal

I know it's been awhile...cough cough...but here we go back in time to refresh your memories...

10.3.15 Jake and I are both avid hikers and had been wanting to hike this trail called the Siphon Draw Trail up to the Flatiron for a while. We planned the hike for an early Saturday morning knowing it was going to be long and strenuous. Little did I know my legs were going to start burning and never stop after 15mins in. We got to a spot called the Basin where most people turn around and go back, because it’s already 2 miles in and 1,000 feet of elevation. But our crazy selves were determined to get to our true destination which was another 1.25 miles of climbing up & over boulders, getting lost, and ascending another 2,000ft. On this last jaunt, Jake thought I was going to want to turn around because it was getting to be a bit too much. Jake had already told me turning back wasn’t an option and he would push me up the rest of the way if he had to! To help take my mind off the trek, he said, “We deserve some champagne to celebrate when we get to the top.” And I replied with, “Oh yea that would be great! We should’ve brought those little bottles of champagne!” We made it up to the Flatiron in about 2 hours. The views were spectacular! You could see the whole valley for miles around. We hung out, took some pictures, ate a snack, and enjoyed the view. Jake said he wanted to take my picture out on a rock that he pointed to. As I was walking towards it, he took the opportunity to get the ring out of his backpack and put it in his waistband. He took my picture, then came over to me and started talking about some sappy stuff of us making these adventures last a lifetime and got down on one knee and proposed! :) As I have tears in my eyes, thinking…FINALLY…I said yes! Haha :) Little did I know, he had those little bottles of champagne hidden in his pack, so we toasted to our next big adventure as an engaged couple.
