...and we wish them well, but they're not featured here. Gus and Kylie attended the same middle school, high school, and college, so they weren't exactly strangers. In fact, they were friends! Both were raised in Chelmsford, Massachusetts and stayed fairly local until Kylie moved to New York City in 2012. As fate would have it, Gus relocated to the city that never sleeps in 2015 and was willing and able to help Kylie move apartments twice over a four month span of time (this is quite the feat given NYC's infamous lack of parking and elevator-equipped buildings). After the second move, Gus worked up the courage to text, "We should date. It would be rad!" Up until this point, Kylie had been referring to Gus as the nicest guy she knew and proclaiming to friends that the fact he was single and living in New York meant there was hope in what could sometimes seem like a geographically inconvenient romantic wasteland. Turns out she was more right than she knew. After an official first date in Astoria, Queens, the rad-ness of their dating was confirmed.
The signing of a shared lease was one thing, but the adoption of Stella the terrier-mix was an acknowledged agreement that they were in this for the long haul. The possibility of marriage was much discussed during the second year of their relationship and, just after a trip to Paris and Kylie's 30th birthday, it became ring-official. Gus proposed in the dining room of Kylie's parents' home at roughly 4:00AM following a day of travel that consisted of an extended airport stay, an 8-hour transatlantic flight, a 4-hour drive, little sleep, and lots of coffee. Some big life decisions need to be weighed and examined from all angles, and some are an easy and enthusiastic "yes!" even through the fog of jetlag.
