In 2016 Kylie started a new job in middle school ministry at North Point Community Church. Don had been volunteering with 5th graders and moved up with them. At camp, leaders and staff were challenged to do a belly flop in front of all students and volunteers. Don's bellyflop was epic, but he was even more impressed that Kylie fearlessly and painfully committed to a bellyflop as well. Don assumed that Kylie was too young for him so decided to admire her from afar. Two years went by as they made small talk in the early mornings at church. Kylie was impressed with Don's commitment to students and his enormous muscles budging out of his tight T-shirts. Don watched Kylie lead volunteers and occasionally preach to the students on Sunday mornings. In the fall of 2019 Kylie turned 40 and posted pictures of her birthday party. Don, realizing that Kylie was not too young, decided to ask her out. Kylie thanked him, but said that while she did not date volunteers if he was still interested when his students moved to high school in the spring, he could ask again then. Then Covid. From time to time Don and Kylie would message on Facebook and Kylie let Don know that if he still wanted to go on a date she would be interested since they would not run into each other at church. They went on their first date on April 15, 2020 during Shelter in Place. It was a great first date and Don and Kylie began a friendship that grew into love. In May of 2021 Don proposed at a sudo birthday party surprising Kylie in front of family and friends. Kylie, "I have found Don to be the most wonderful man I have ever met. He is generous, kind, loving, strong, determined and thoughtful. We found each other because for many years we pursued God's will for our lives. We met while in that pursuit and we are ready for marriage and each other because of the way God has prepared us. We are lucky, blessed and can't wait to celebrate with you!"
