We both share a deep connection to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Chris grew up spending every Fourth of July on the Cape, while Kylie had the joy of calling Cape Cod home throughout her childhood. From long days on the beach collecting crabs and splashing in the waves to simply soaking in the beauty of the Cape, it was a place that shaped us both. Years later, we unknowingly crossed paths again at East Carolina University, even living on adjacent sides of one of our favorite restaurants near campus, Christy’s—an invisible string already quietly connecting us. Despite all of these near misses and coincidences, our paths didn’t truly cross until after college. When they finally did, we became instant friends. Even during a time when COVID kept us physically apart, our conversations picked up as if no time had passed at all, as though that invisible string never stretched or weakened. Everything shifted the night Chris noticed Kylie’s small tattoo shaped like Cape Cod. What began as a simple observation unfolded into hours of shared memories: sandy beaches, our grandmothers, and long summer evenings that always ended with ice cream. In that moment, the invisible string between us finally tightened, pulling us together for good. The rest, as they say, is history.
