How We Met

Kylie's Story:

It was 2014. Kimye was official. Everyone was doing the Ice Bucket Challenge. And I was still getting used to California life, living at home in my old bedroom with my parents after moving back from New York. In an attempt to meet new people, a friend recommended I use this app called Coffee Meets Bagel that was, "like Tinder but less creepy". After some intensive swiping, I eventually connected with a guy named Matt. We chatted a little about what we did for work, where we lived and our mutual dislike for country music. Eventually, we made the leap to connecting IRL (in real life). We met at Dave & Busters for happy hour after work one evening. When I saw him, I was immediately relieved I hadn't been catfished! We got drinks and played some games around the arcade. He let me win a couple rounds. I did the same. I was surprised by how easy it was to talk to him and I found myself laughing, enjoying the evening, wishing it wouldn't end so quickly. Almost four years later, he's still making me laugh, surprising me by how easy it is, forgetting how quickly the time is going.

The Proposal

Matt's Story:

Fast forward nearly 3 years of dating. As 2018 rolled around, the one thing I was completely sure of, was that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with my best friend who made life so enjoyable, easy and fun. I knew exactly what to do and where. Kylie and I were headed out to Boston in June for a friend's wedding. We had decided to leave a few days early to see our friends, Sam and Steve, in Cape Cod. Well if there's one thing I remember, it was Kylie's love for Cape Cod and her personal fear of being proposed to in front of a large audience. It took a few months of planning with the help of our awesome friends in Cape Cod, Sam and Steve. I think it was harder for Sam than myself to not spill the beans! Our stay in Cape Cod finally came. Sam and Steve took us out to the most beautiful sand dunes with a perfect view of the ocean. We were all super excited and very anxious but Kylie didn't suspect a thing. I nervously turned around, got down on one knee, said some sweet little nothings and asked her to marry me. She was in such shock that I had to confirm she actually said "yes". She did! I became the happiest person ever that day.
