Kyler and I met through mutual friends one night when my friend group was invited to his fraternity house — and thanks to a game of beer pong, the rest was history. We ended up as partners, and apparently I impressed him, because later he told me I was “dang good” at it and that’s when he knew he wanted to get to know me. After that, our friends took it upon themselves to play matchmaker. When he finally asked me on a date, I was so nervous I almost didn’t go — it took one of my friends practically forcing me out the door. We had dinner at Bites in Statesboro, and I vividly remember ordering cheese fries but being far too nervous to eat a single one. What started as a nerve-wracking first date slowly turned into something steady and special. We spent months talking and getting to know each other before officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, building a foundation of friendship first. From formals to spontaneous day trips to Savannah, to our famous “Whiskey Wednesdays” (if you know, you know), we created a relationship full of laughter, memories, and so much joy. Looking back, I’m so grateful I said yes to that first date — even if I needed a little push — because it led me to the love of my life.
