Let's just say it started out one sided. I guess a lot of couples start that way. The guy thinks about the girl for several months and is sure she is the one. He then asks the girl and she is in complete shock, and very unsure. I mean yes, she is honored he ask, but he is not the guy she had in mind. Not all stories start this way, but ours did. Not to say we hadn't had crushes on each other in the past. We had, but they weren't a big deal. Just something that kind of comes and goes when you are with them on occasion. But our story starts like this. We had just been at Young Folks camp in California and it was the Monday after. We had both gone in separate vehicles to the beach with friends. Right before it was time to go back, he came over and started talking to me. We ended up squished together in the back of a 12-passenger van. We had quite the conversations. I told him some things I wanted my future boyfriend to do, (I’m not really sure why I did other than I like to talk) like play the guitar. He took note. After that ride he was sure he liked me. I had other plans. Things where quiet for quite a few months (mostly because he wasn’t allowed to move forward until he turned 17). Several days before he turned 17, he already had that letter in the mail. While he was on their annual camping trip agonizing over my response, I was completely oblivious to what was going on. I did not know about the letter he had sent to my Dad until I learnt of it in a rather surprising way. Let’s just say I was not expecting it. I said I just can’t, but Mom really thought I should give it a try. I did, and I am sure thankful of it. Things moved quite rapidly from there. We had several things laid down by the parents, like when we where allowed to talk by phone and date. They changed their minds though (for which we are thankful). In the end we were engaged before the time we where supposed to start dating! That’s our story, and I am thankful God choose Kyler to be in this story.
