Abigail and Kyler met on the first day of 6th grade during gym class. Abigail being in Coach Mooney’s class (who would’ve thought her 6th grade PE coach would be her future father in law!) and Kyler in Coach Krause’s. They sat diagonal having a view of one another from across the gym. Abigail and Kyler quickly noticed each other, Abigail instantly thinking “he’s cute!” Over the first year of middle school they joined the same friend group; new friends who would soon become old friends (shoutout CTMS). In high school they remained friends until junior year when they realized maybe they wanted to be more than friends. At 17 they had a short lived relationship, until rekindling the flame the summer before college much to the credit of weekends at the Brauer house. This was also short lived as they were leaving for two opposite ends of Texas, Lubbock and College Station. Finally, Thanksgiving break Sophomore year of college they stoked the flame one final time, the third time really was the charm. From that point on they were head over heels, stewarding their relationship with frequent drives across Texas as they navigated long distance. Abigail spent weekends as an honorary Aggie and Kyler went back to his west Texas family roots. Each creating lifelong friends and memories at their separate universities! After 2 and a half years of long distance, it sadly didn’t end with graduation. Kyler moved to Washington, DC where he began working on Capitol Hill and Abigail moved to Austin, Texas where she worked selling computers. They were long distance professionals by this time but their hearts longed to be together. Abigail, who had always had a love of history, pursued her dream job and began working at the National Archives in Washington, DC where they finally could create their life together. Abigail and Kyler began to thrive in the nations Capitol, making friends and even getting a dog, Rosie! Kyler popped the question on February 22nd, 2025 on a private historic estate tour and of course Abigail happily said yes! The couple can’t wait to celebrate their love with all their loved ones this coming March!
