this life & the next

Back during covid, I was live-streaming on TikTok and had a random girl compliment my music taste in the chat (which was crushcrushcrush by Paramore). Of course I smiled, followed back, and moved on not thinking much of it. Jayci claims she had sent me a snapchat not much longer after this, but I don’t have a clear memory of this… so who knows! A couple years later, December 10th, 2022, I’ve started a career and living my best life in Charlotte, North Carolina. I get a message on TikTok from this random girl claiming she will fly down to wherever I am to take me on a date. After this, we were constantly talking day and night. Our first night chatting, we stayed up until nearly sunrise just small talking. After talking for a couple days, I put her original statement to the test… and she followed through! She bought a plane ticket from New York to come see me. The first night we met, I was picking her up from the airport. She was wearing black jeans, Carharrt t-shirt, boots and glasses. She kissed me right away! I was so shocked, but she bravely laid one on me. Then as soon as we got in the car, all my nerves disappeared. Looking back at it, I realize it was my soul feeling at home with her presence. I will always remember that feeling until my last breath. And um… now I have a ring! Her perseverance paid off!

I remember it was around July 2020 and I was working at an apartment complex in Waco, TX. I had gotten home from work and was just scrolling through TikTok when this girl came up on my for you page. I was in awe, her smile was contagious and I did a double take at my phone, when I clicked on her profile and saw her other videos, her personality and humor stuck out and I couldn’t help but follow. A couple weeks later, I received a notification that the same girl was live on TikTok. I clicked and saw she was doing her makeup and listening to Paramore. I didn’t hesitate to comment on how good her music taste was and the next thing I knew, she was looking at her phone smiling. She followed me back! I was feeling bold and snapchatted her that same night. Kylee then very politely turned me down. I moved on, began my career in New York and took every day one step at a time. Eventually, one night after getting home from work, December 10th, 2022, I was scrolling through TikTok as normal when I see a familiar face on my for you page. I was in awe all over again and DM’d her, I said I would love to take her out sometime and I was happy to fly, get a rental car or do whatever I needed. She responded and we ended up talking all night! A couple days later she made a comment about me keeping my word and taking her out, I didn’t think twice and bought a plane ticket. When it came to Kylee and when it came to our relationship, I was always determined and always willing. Every step it took to get to her was worth it and I know the rest of our lives will be similar. I’m definitely the luckiest to have her!
