This is the post-COVID Love Story. We met on Bumble. I had a tried and true opening line... "Do you think you could win a fist fight with a bear?" Erik answered, "I mean, probably only a panda bear, but then I'm the asshole fighting a panda." We chatted for a bit, getting to know each other, and ultimately decided to meet up in November. I suggested tacos, another tried-and-true first date. The way I figured it, tacos can be 30 minutes, or it can be several hours. Like a true gentleman, Erik offered to pick me up, not knowing that the place I had chosen for food was a 5-minute walk from my apartment at the time, while he drove 45 minutes in rush hour traffic to meet me. I obviously couldn't let him know how close I was to the restaurant, so I declined, and watched him attempt to park an objectively too big truck in a tiny lot in Oak Park, involving a 45 point turn, I'm guessing. We walked into the restaurant and pretty early on into our conversation Erik let me know he is a fantastic bowler. Obviously, this was a unique flex, and I have yet to see him bowl to validate his claims. A few things struck me about Erik that night... first, he would, with no real complaint, go anywhere and do anything to spend time with me, and second, he was the most easy going and funny person I had ever met, and I desparately wanted to know him better. I can't wait to marry him. -Kylee
