Like many great love stories, ours began in the most unexpected place: the bustling emergency department at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Daniel was the AMR guy with a sharp sense of humor and a heart of gold; Kylee was the outgoing, upbeat ED Tech who turned even the most hectic moments into opportunities for connection and laughter. One day, a random conversation turned into a full-on debate over one of the internet’s most pressing issues: the conspiracy theory that birds aren't real. What started as a silly joke quickly evolved into real laughter, and before long, we realized we had more in common than just our jobs. Our first date was as unique as we are. What was supposed to be a casual smoothie at the bird refuge, turned into an unintentional (yet oddly charming) adventure when we randomly stumbled upon Pat, aka P.C, our favorite local character who had somehow become a bit of a legend in our hearts. We couldn’t resist following her to see where she went next, curious about where her journey would take her. It wasn’t the most traditional date, but it was ours — full of unexpected moments and lots of laughs. From there, it was easy to see that we were meant to be. Our shared sense of humor, love for adventure, and, of course, our mutual appreciation for bird-related conspiracy theories, made us inseparable. And here we are today, ready to take on the greatest adventure of all — marriage.
