At Haven Riviera Cancun, breakfast and lunch are relaxed and beach-casual (swimwear is fine by the pool or beach, but not inside the restaurants). For dinner, the resort has an elevated resort/smart-casual dress code, and we encourage guests to dress up for the evenings — think dresses, skirts, blouses, and dressy sandals for women, and collared shirts with dress pants or tailored shorts and nice shoes for men. Swimwear, tank tops, and flip-flops are not permitted in the restaurants at dinner. Some à la carte dinner restaurants require reservations, which you’ll make upon arrival at the resort (we recommend booking early in your stay).
Haven Riviera Cancun is an adults-only (18+) resort. While we adore all the little ones, we hope you’ll take this opportunity to enjoy a relaxing, adults-only getaway to unwind and celebrate with us.
All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), debit cards, and cash for payments and on-site purchases. A credit card or cash deposit is required at check-in for incidentals. The resort offers cashless transactions, but cash is recommended for off-property tips and excursions. *Please note: if you plan to use your debit card while traveling, notify your bank of your travel dates and destination. This helps prevent transactions from being declined or your card from being temporarily blocked for suspected fraud!*
Haven is an all-inclusive property with gratuities included in the price of your stay. However, tipping is highly appreciated for good service. Guests commonly tip $1-$2 per drink, $5 for meals, and a few dollars daily for housekeeping/minibar service. Both U.S. dollars and Mexican pesos are accepted, though pesos are often preferred by staff. Tipping daily is preferred over a lump sum to ensure all staff members are recognized.
It is recommended to bring small denominations ($1, $5, $10) for convenience.
For most modern U.S. cell phone plans, you do not need to do anything to have service in Mexico, as many providers include it for free. However, you should check your specific plan to confirm that roaming is included and to avoid high "pay-per-use" fees. If you have a prepaid plan (e.g., T-Mobile Connect), you may need to add a $5/month "North America" add-on for coverage.
When you land, you’ll go through immigration and customs before exiting the airport. The process is straightforward: • Have your passport ready • You may be asked basic travel questions (where you’re staying, length of visit) • After collecting luggage, you’ll walk through customs Most guests are through the process within 30–60 minutes, depending on airport traffic. Once outside, you’ll meet your pre-arranged resort transportation. Airport staff may approach you offering rides — simply continue to your designated transfer area.
Transportation is typically arranged through the resort or wedding travel coordinator. The drive from the airport to the resort area can take 15–25 minutes depending on location and traffic. Roads may feel busier or faster-paced than what some of us are used to. If you’re prone to motion sickness, you may want to bring Dramamine or another preferred remedy just in case.
The resort areas are beautiful, private, and very secure. However, the drive from the airport may pass through areas that look different from what we’re accustomed to in the U.S. Like many tourist destinations around the world, you may see a mix of commercial development and residential neighborhoods. Once you arrive at the resort property, you’ll be in a well-maintained, secure, and welcoming environment designed for guests’ comfort.
The resort is located in a popular tourist area and maintains 24-hour security. As with any travel, we recommend: • Staying aware of your surroundings • Using resort-arranged transportation • Keeping valuables secured Thousands of travelers visit this area every week and enjoy safe, relaxing vacations.
While most typical travel items are fine, please note: • No fresh fruits, vegetables, or meats • No illegal substances • Prescription medications should be in original containers You may bring personal medications and reasonable personal-use items.
Travelers may bring back personal souvenirs and items for personal use. There are limits on: • Alcohol (generally 1 liter duty-free per adult) • Tobacco products You’ll complete a simple customs declaration upon re-entry to the U.S.
At the resort, purified drinking water is provided. Bottled water will be readily available in your room and throughout the property. We recommend: • Drinking bottled or purified water • Using bottled water for brushing teeth (if you prefer extra caution) Ice served at reputable resorts is made from purified water.
• Bring sunscreen and stay hydrated • Pack light, breathable clothing • If you’re sensitive to car rides, consider motion sickness medication • Keep your passport in a secure but accessible location
While certain substances may be legal in some U.S. states, they are not permitted for international travel. Please be aware that transporting marijuana or cannabis products across international borders — even in small amounts — is illegal and can result in serious legal consequences. Airport security and customs screenings are thorough, and there is no “sneaking” items through. We kindly ask all guests to fully respect local and international laws, as well as the wishes of the bride and groom.
