Makapu'u Trail is a well maintained, paved walking trail with amazing views of the ocean. This is a scenic and easy hike for all ages. Be sure to go early in the morning to avoid the heat and the crowds!
Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design
Built in the 30's, Dorris Duke's home is dedicated to an extraordinary collection of Islamic art. Tours are reserved through the Honolulu Museum of Art and be sure to book well in advance! The home has amazing views on the 4+ acres of the Oahu coast. A truly hidden gem. Those interested in architecture, design and things middle east will be thrilled!
Waikiki Catamaran Sail
Set sail and experience Oahu's south shore from sea. Snorkel with sea turtles, whale watch or take a sunset cruise. There are many catamaran tour companies - some of the ones we've loved are Holokai, Na Hoku II, and Hawaii Nautical.
Haleiwa Town
Cute little town looks as if it's stuck in time in the 60's. It's best to get here early as it’s a very busy place with lots of stores from art galleries to food trucks and excellent beach side parking down the road. Don't miss Haleiwa Bowls for the best acai bowl on the island!
Byodo-In Temple
Located in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, this temple inspires peace, tranquility and the quieting of one's soul. Feed the birds or the koi or walk the grounds or sit and pray or listen to the bell. If you're looking for some serenity this is the place.
Kalama Beach
Soft fine sand and clear blue water. This beach is just down the road from the well known Lanikai beach ranked many times among the best beaches in the world. Kalama has all the beauty with less crowds. Go here!
