When Kyle and I first met, we had a mutual friend (shoutout to Diane Cole!) who had been trying to set us up for quiteeee some time... I met Diane when I first moved to Maryland through lacrosse - her daughter played with one of the girls I nannied for - and over the course of a couple years, she got to know me more and more. Diane knew I was really into the gym and working out and mentioned that she felt like I would really like one of the owners at the gym she went to. At the time, I had a boyfriend (which she knew, but she just had a good feeling about Kyle and I) so I didn't think much of it, but she literally brought it up EVERY time I saw herđso it was something that always stuck with me. Kyle was also in a relationship at the time, so it was still a while before we were both single and in a place to start dating again - BUT in April 2019, it happened! I texted Diane on a Sunday night and asked her, "what's the name of that gym and the guy you told me to go see again??" And she replied, "Old Line. Ask for Kyle. He is coaching noon tomorrow!" So - I went to Old Line, I asked for Kyle, I took his class at noon on that Monday and he texted me for the first time that same night! He asked me if I enjoyed class, which I took as his way of subtly letting me know that he liked me... (turns out, all new members at the gym get that textđ) but he did ask if I was planning on coming back! We continued to text back and forth for the next few days, I went back in on Wednesday or Thursday, he invited me to go to a party with him on Friday night, and the rest is literally history... our first date started at The Guinness Factory in Baltimore, then we got to see the end of an Oriole's game, and we finished the night at one of his friends houses in Baltimore where I got to meet a bunch of his friends! We hung out again the next two nights in a row and have been inseparable ever since! I was pretty positive that Kyle was going to be my husband within the first few weeks of meeting him. Things couldn't have been more perfect with him... everything was just so easy between us from day one. We got along well, we were interested in the same things, and wanted all the same things out of life. Our relationship just always felt right. We truly brought out the best in each other and continue to do so each and every day. I will forever be thankful for Diane for being persistent and making our relationship happen! Kyle is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me and I am so grateful for his loveâ„ïž
Our Engagement Story started in early August, 2021⊠I received a phone call from Taylorâs sister, Brooke, asking about possible birthday gift ideas for Taylor. We came up with the idea of a customized barbell, and after I hung up with her, I instantly knew that it needed to be a part of my proposal to Taylor. So I called her back and asked if I could hijack her birthday present! From there, we organized a âsurpriseâ birthday party for Taylor over Labor Day WeekendâŠshe knew my parents would be there for a small get-together, but she thought that was it. Instead, we invited all of Taylorâs family along with some close friends! August 2021 was a pretty crazy month for us, we had our annual âSeacrets Take The Wheelâ friends weekend in Ocean City, I started a new job at Archbishop Spalding, I was organizing an engagement party (well, really my mom & Kelly crushed it all), and one of our cars broke down! Labor Day Weekend was no differentâŠFriday was my first Friday Football game at Spalding, on Saturday, Taylor and I went to our first UMD Football game together (they won, just in case you were wondering), and then came Sunday⊠Sunday started with Taylor making an absolutely delish breakfast for the both of us. She truly is the best⊠and then we headed to my sister (Kelly) and her husbands (Brock) house for the party/proposal⊠When we arrived to Kellyâs house we were greeted by a crowd of Taylorâs family and closest friends! She was totally surprised and had NO idea about the party/proposal. We had an amazing afternoon with friends and family, playing in the pool, and enjoying an amazing spread of foodâalthough, if you ask Taylor, she would have told you I was avoiding her all dayâŠbut, truthfully, I was just nervous! The time came for her to open her birthday presentsâŠI grabbed the barbell and gave it to Taylor. She slid it out of itâs casing and picked it up to fully inspect the barbell⊠but she didnât quite understand what was happening when she read the custom inscription that said: TAYLOR FLYNN⊠So as she was rotating the bar to read what it said, I got down on one knee, and Iâm not sure I fully got the words out before Taylor said, âOF COURSE!â The great day turned into a day that we will never forget for our entire lives. It was simple, amazing, family and friend-filled, and makes us so incredibly happy every time we think back.
