Our story begins during our sophomore year in college when Kyle caught Salma's eye in a 500 person physics lecture room. Later within the quarter, we met in person at a social gathering where Kyle finally approached Salma. We got to talking and enjoyed a few laughs, but Kyle never asked for Salma's number. Fast forward to our junior year in college, where Salma and Kyle shared most their classes together. We began study sessions and met for exam reviews, only to realize that we share so much in common. We developed an amazing friendship and began to spend time together daily. It wasn't until Salma finally pulled the trigger (not wanting to repeat the phone number scenario over) and asked Kyle to be her boyfriend. We dated for 5 years before Kyle asked Salma the most important question he would ever ask..

What would Kyle's proposal be if it wasn't in good ole Russell fashion?! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary at the Russell family beach house in Cayucous, CA. Kyle had a great idea to go ocean kayaking and check out the otters that so happen to be in the bay (SPOILER ALERT: there were no otters). After packing our kayaks and heading out in the water, we noticed a sandbar in the middle of the water that Kyle insisted on seeing. Kyle got out of his kayak and got on one knee. It was then where he asked Salma to join him in the greatest adventure of them all!
