As soon as possible! Tourists flock to the Pacific Northwest in the summer, so book early - including your hotel. If you can swing it, use this as an excuse to take a vacation! Go to Seattle, drive up to Vancouver, take the ferry to the San Juan islands, it's truly the best time of year to visit our little corner of the country,
Portland has great public transit but it's also a very easy city to drive around in - so it's kind of up to you. Portland has Uber, Lyft, Car2Go, ZipCar and ride-share bikes (and scooters!), so you're covered if you want to stay within the city. If you're staying an extra day or two, there are some beautiful sites just outside the city that may be worth the drive.
We're getting married at the Stevens Pavilion Picnic Shelter in Hoyt Arboretum. It's a beautiful, mid-century structure tucked away right off one of the main roads through the Arboretum. Check out the map here for the exact location: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/286475. There is limited pay-for-parking right across from the ceremony site, which you can use if you'd like - but just get there early! We highly recommend taking the provided shuttle if you don't want to have to think about a thing.
We're offering a shuttle - a big ole yellow school bus! Meet at the JUPITER HOTEL at 3pm to grab it. Each shuttle holds 50 people, so if you don't catch the first one, you have one other chance to catch it. While you wait, feel free to grab a drink at Doug Fir, it's a great bar. And if you miss it, hop in an Uber/Lyft/cab and tell them to take you to the Stevens Pavilion Picnic Shelter at the Hoyt Arboretum.
There is definitely street parking near Coopers, so you shouldn't have a problem finding a spot. That said, we highly encourage you to Uber/Lyft if you can. Portland is small, so ride sharing is affordable and it will mean you can party as much as you like!
Coopers is in a pretty industrial area, so don't leave anything of value in your car if you end up driving. There are many wedding venues in the area, so it's by no means dangerous, but there are homeless people (as is the case everywhere in Portland) and it's better to be safe than sorry!
We're getting dressed up because well, we're getting married - and we encourage you to do the same! Our ceremony will likely be outside, so keep that in mind when it comes to footwear. Obviously, it's Portland, so we're pretty casual around these parts, but who wants to pass up an excuse to look sharp and drink for free?
We love your kids, but unfortunately no. This is an adults only event.
Coopers should be able to accommodate any and all dietary restrictions. When you RSVP to our reception, we've included a question about this, so please fill it out. For everyone else, we'll be serving family style meals, so you'll get to try a little of everything!
