Answer

Formal cocktail attire. Mid to floor length dresses. Ties are welcome but not required. No jeans, please. Vestidos midi o largos, vestimenta elegante tipo cóctel. Corbata bienvenida, pero no obligatoria. No jeans, por favor.

José María Córdova International Airport [MDE] in Rionegro: ~30-40 mins from Medellín.

Do I need a visa to visit Colombia?

Answer

U.S. citizens don’t for stays under 90 days.

Is it safe to travel in Medellín?

Answer

Yes - especially in tourist areas like El Poblado, Laureles, and Provenza; standard big-city precautions apply.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

Answer

No, but some helps! Many people in hotels and restaurants speak some English.

How do I get from the airport to the hotel or venue?

What currency does Colombia use, and should I bring cash?

Answer

Colombian pesos; cash is useful to have and can be exchanged at the airport. Many places also accept card (except American Express).

Will my phone work in Colombia?

T-Mobile & AT&T often work and have plans you can buy; otherwise, SIM cards/eSIMs are cheap to purchase

Are outlets the same as in the U.S.?

Yes — same voltage and plug type.

Hotel recommendations are listed under the Travel section. Airbnb is also very popular. We recommend staying in the El Poblado area if going that route.

Are you providing transportation to the ceremony/reception?

Answer

We are looking at options to have a few shuttles from a central location, however Uber is very easy to book from the city to the venue or anywhere you need to go.

Should I rent a car?

Answer

Usually no - Uber is easier and widely available. If you plan to take day trips outside of Medellin, it could be worth it, but there are also many day tour options that provide transportation to most tourist areas.

Both! The ceremony will be outside and the reception will primarily be indoors.

What’s the weather like in Medellín that time of year?

Answer

Year-round ~75°F, but occasional rain - bring a light jacket and some layers for evenings. Medellin is called the "City of Eternal Spring" so you can expect pleasant weather.

Yes, in Medellin - but bottled water is widely available.
