How We Met

06/08/2017

We met while interning at XPO Logistics during the summer before our Junior and Senior years of college. During out very first conversation, I promptly declared Kyle my partner for the internship summer project and practically cornered him into friendship. After a stellar project presentation, a year of being friends from 'rival' schools, and a few Sunday morning breakfasts, we decided to explore our relationship past the friendship stage.

The Proposal

10/18/2021

On a sunny autumn Monday, Kyle started dropping undeniable hints that there were big things in the works for the following day. He ran errands on which I was forbidden to join him, he requested I clear my schedule the following evening, and he left a mysterious note on the kitchen counter that was labeled, "Do Not Open Until 5:45PM". In efforts to distract me from the note I was so eager to rip open, Kyle suggested we take our pup for a walk at the park near our apartment. I threw on my finest TJ Max exercise clothes, my worn-out tennis shoes, and a fanny pack (for good measure), and out we went. Based on the breadcrumbs he was leaving, the walk was meant to be nothing other than a walk, and the proposal was set for Tuesday. We arrived at the NCMA Park and began our stroll. At some point, Kyle asked me to join him for a rest on a bench. Unbeknownst to me, this would be a very important respite. Fully believing that the proposal was happening on the next day, and not in that current moment, I interrupted what was the beginning of Kyle's proposal to get him to take a picture of Delilah and me (woops). He took the picture and then patiently proceeded to ask me the best question I have ever been asked. I immediately said yes! Upon further investigation of all the hints Kyle had been dropping, I discovered the errands, the note, and the changing of my Tuesday night plans were not a ruse to throw me off his course. In true Kyle-fashion, he had earnestly been planning to propose Tuesday evening. However, once he set his plan in motion on Monday, he couldn't wait any longer and asked me the day before he had planned!
