For many of you, a trip to Durham is like a homecoming. For the rest of you, we're sure you'll love it as much as we do. There is a lot on this list, but you would be surprised how many great places didn't make the cut.
Duke University
Durham, NC
Whether your first time at Duke or your 1,000th time at Duke, it never gets old. Swing by campus and see where we first met- in Tony Brown's Leadership, Development, and Organizations class in Rubenstein Hall room 153.
A historic team playing in the best minor league ballpark in the country. As a bonus, you can look at the bat boys and picture Kyle doing that back in high school and college.
Pizzeria Toro
105 East Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 908-6936
A weekly pizza staple for us with the best kale salad in America.
Cucciolo Osteria
601 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701, (984) 243-8744
Recreate the dinner that we had for our engagement picnic: butter chicken with an arugula salad (Kyle) and walnut pesto pasta (Mia).
M Sushi
311 Holland Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 908-9266
High-end, delicious sushi- not your typical BOGO sushi spot. The chirashi bowl is a Mia favorite.
They have the best old fashioned in Durham, and if you know us you know that means a lot. Kyle worked here as a server, so ask for Brad or Graham and let them know you are here for our wedding!
Mateo Bar de Tapas
109 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 530-8700
Join us here on Friday night for the first night of wedding festivities! This building includes Liberty Warehouse, where Mia lived when she moved back to Durham and where we first lived together.
Luna Rotisserie and Empanadas
112 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701, (984) 439-8702
A fusion of food from South America and the American South that has been a staple of Kyle's diet for a decade. Bonus: we guarantee that your food will be ready in less than 15 minutes every time.
Bar Virgile
105 South Mangum Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 973-3000
Known for great cocktails, but also offer some delicious food.
Alley Twenty Six
320 East Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701, (984) 439-2278
Classic cocktails done right. Shannon is one of the most knowledgeable bartenders you'll ever meet.
Kingfisher
321 East Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701
Great cocktails served in locally made specialty glasses.
Ponysaurus Brewing Company
219 Hood Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 584-4265
Great place for a cold beer on a hot summer day. Fun fact: Ponysaurus originally brewed beer in The Cookery (where our wedding is) before opening their own location.
Bull City Ciderworks
305 South Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 237-2357
A wide variety of delicious cider and a great place for a Sunday morning yoga class if you're into that kind of thing.
The Oak House Durham
126 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701, (919) 339-1383
Coffee shop in our old building that also has a sneaky good selection of beer and whiskey. Tell Tyler that we sent you.
You can never have too much ice cream, especially from a place that offers so many unique flavors. Best known for their salted caramel, but we devour their brownies (the vegan ones are fudgier!).
