Wedding Party

Evan Ibsen

Best Man

I’ve known Matt for over 10 years now. We met in college at Western in TKE. We bonded quickly as we were both a little cocky and competitive. And we’re probably the most dominant beer pong duo on the planet. Matt will deny this but he used to have me start at a disadvantage when we played head to head because he was scared of my skills. The friendship grew over the years on the fraternity. Although we never lived together, we were always close and always hanging out. We began to deepen the friendship toward the end of his college run (I spent a little longer there) and this friendship turned into a brother. I had Matt in my wedding because he is one of the most important people in my life and I am excited to share his big day with him up there by his side.

Sara-ann Ellis

Maid of Honor

Growing up across the street from Kyle, she became more than my best friend, she was the sister I never had. Some of my favorite memories include watching Shonda Rhimes TGIT on Thursday nights and living together before she met Matt. Kyle has been my ride or die since the beginning. And now I am delighted to stand by her as she gets ready to marry the love of her life.

While it may be cliche to say "I've known Matt for as long as I can remember", he was born 10 months before me, so I have, though I don't remember the first couple years cause we were babies. Growing up in such a small extended family, Matt has always been like a brother to me and always will be. From forcing him to go to Country Thunder at his old age to watching him cry after getting hit by a baseball bat as a little kid, I'll always be by his side. Congrats to Kyle and Matt!

Kyle and I met on our first days of work at ZCenter. We had a TON of paperwork to sign and we both were like “what IS all this? How do we pick insurance?” And we navigated it together. Kyle quickly went from being my coworker to my best friend. We spent countless hours driving together all around lake county, in classrooms, in gymnasiums, and auditoriums. One my favorite things about Kyle that I learned quickly is her undeniable sharp wit and humor. I have laughed until I’ve cried more times than I can count with Kyle. But my absolute favorite things about her is her fierce loyalty to the people she loves. Kyle is hands down the best friend you could ever ask for, because you will never face anything alone as long as she is in your life.

Matt and I met our first year of college. Our rooms were across the hall from each other. We became friends quickly and then just kind of got stuck being friends. Now, more than a decade later, he is one of my closest and best friends. I am so happy to have the honor to be part of Matt and Kyle's special day.

Kyle and I have been friends since kindergarten. I took Kyle to the fairytale ball in second grade. Kyle has always been there for me when I need her with the honest truth. Throughout high school, Kyle and I could talk on the phone about her boy problems or my girl problems anytime. To this day I know I can count on Kyle to talk to about anything. I’m glad she didn’t listen to me about Matt, because he’s actually an alright guy and I’m honored to be part of their special day!

From the beginning, our cousin dynamic always placed us as the two boys clashing heads but at the same time getting along the most. Matt was certainly someone I continued to follow in our family regardless but we always have each others back. From making up the most random games during the holidays to now slamming twisted teas and enjoying life. Side note, Matt may think he’s better at fall guys than me, but I think I’m still an A+ fall guy player, maybe A- at times.

Believe it or not, I called Kyle my supervisor before I called Kyle my friend! I remember the day I met Kyle to interview for an internship position at a local non profit. I remember being exceedingly nervous to meet the person I would be trying to convince give me my dream internship position. So therefore I did the most reasonable, ordinary, and normal thing anybody would do, I googled Kyle Malcolm. Right away a picture came up with her and a news article where Kyle was honored with a District 70 Award for Character, Leadership, and Service. I remember thinking to myself, wow she is amazing and definitely someone I want to learn from! I recall Kyle walking toward me, calling me back to the office, and all my stress turned to excitement. From the moment I met Kyle, I knew she was genuine and a strong leader. Her energy and passion being contagious! The interview felt like ten minutes but we actually spent well over two and half hours talking about the internship position, our passion for social justice, and touring the agency. Talking and laughing with Kyle for extended periods of time came natural, even on day one of meeting! Little did I know that I would not just be walking out with an internship that day but something much more valuable, friendship. I will never forget the day I met Kyle because Kyle is anything but forgettable. Kyle is kind, brilliant, and a loyal friend that I cherish deeply!

Matt and I first met at 10 years old playing hockey for the Chargers. Matt barely could skate and his ankles would bend so much at the beginning, and it took my teaching and experience to get Matt not to look like a baby giraffe. As we got older, we always stuck together through good times and the bad. Matt was my best man at my wedding.

When Kyle first brought matt to meet our family, I knew right away that he was going to fit in. It’s been such a pleasure seeing these two grow as a couple and I wouldn’t want anyone else to call my brother in law! So excited to be a part of your guys’ big day!!

One day my best friend from the time I was 6, Matt Peterson, told me to come over to watch the Bears Vs Packers game at his house. This was after he got out of college at Western Illinois and his mom was living out of state, so he was living one of his friends from college. As we’re watching the game, his roommate walks in and introduces himself as Matt. It turns out that my best friend is living with is the Matt that’s dating my sister. Now, Kyle and Matt were dating by this point, and I hadn’t met Matt yet, but I was told they met on “bumble”. But yet my best friend that’s known my family forever just so happens to be his roommate. Now it very well could be the biggest coincidence ORRRRRRR Matt “bumble” Peterson set them up. I’ll choose the latter.

Having Kyle as an oldest sister means we have gone through so many experiences together, especially when living under the same roof. Still, I am so grateful for how our relationship has evolved as we’ve gotten older. Kyle has always been incredibly independent and focused, and seeing how she and Matt have grown together, and have been able to highlight each other’s strengths through their support of one another has been amazing to witness. Very excited to be a part of Kyle and Matt’s special day!

It wasn’t the first time I met Mat, but one of the best stories I’ve had with him is after landing in Vegas we stayed up till 5 in the morning as most respectable people do. Staggering back to the hotel room we all fallen asleep in minutes, well except for Mat. We’d maybe had our eyes for 45 mins, when Mat springs out of bed runs to the curtains and rips them open. Screaming that the sun is awake I’m awake! Waking the rest of us in the room up. With in an hour we were showered and back on the strip living the high life!
