In the fashion of so many millennials, we swiped right. We met on Tinder, and after a few weeks of marathon texting, met at Estadio on 14th Street for our first date. While we had planned a quick drink, we chatted for hours and watched as the snow piled up outside. Before we left we were already excitedly planning our second, and third dates. Things moved quickly and as life got crazier we knew we wanted to be there for each other through every bit of that craziness.
As the anniversary of our snowy first date approached, Matt kept saying how much he enjoyed another one of our early dates by the Old Town Alexandria waterfront. On that date Kyle taught Matt dominos, and tried really really hard to teach him how to hold all of the bones in his hands at once. One year later, we went down to the waterfront so Kyle could beat Matt at dominos and walk around The Torpedo Factory. We had a drink by the water and Kyle later understood why Matt had tried so hard to convince Kyle to do shots. While we sat at the edge of the fountain where we had first played together, Matt dropped a domino--and one knee. "Brown Eyed Girl" played in the background, and Kyle obviously said yes! Matt's a catch, who wouldn't?
