Our Story

Written by Makainy;)

Kyle and I met back in 2021 during Army Basic Training. I've always enjoyed Kyle's energetic company. He was positive, and right away I admired his values. Family and God were the most important things in his life. After Basic Training, we went our separate ways to Advanced Individual Training . I returned home to Wisconsin, while Kyle was gone for a much longer time with airborne and combat medic school. Our friendship grew with occasional letters that I would send and long phone calls. Sometimes we would fall asleep on the phone and wake up the next day saying goodbye. Kyle was assigned to the 82nd airborne division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His division was always ready to get up and leave the country at any given moment. In 2022 he was deployed to Poland due to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. We had lost contact for quite some time. I would occasionally receive a message from Kyle over a phone that he had found. Eventually we stopped contact due to the distance and bad communication. Kyle came back to North Carolina in July of 2022. I was still in Wisconsin (home of cheese and beer). During Christmas of 2023 God began poking at me, telling me to reconnect with Kyle. I asked my 17 yr old brother, Owen, for advice. Owen and I decided to flip a coin on whether or not I should contact him. We called heads, and heads it was! I wished Kyle a Merry Christmas, not expecting an answer back, and I let him know that I was available to visit if he was free. I visited Kyle in February, the day after Valentines, not thinking anything of it. Right away he impressed me by bringing me a Chic Fil A meal and opening my car door for me. Chivalry is not dead people! I proposed that we go to a bar and catch up on lost time. Kyle was not expecting this idea. He informed me that North Carolina was unlike Wisconsin, where the bar scene feels like home. I convinced him to take a chance, so we drove to a little hole in the wall bar where we played pool. I showed him fun bar games and he showed me how to talk to some local gangsters in the area haha. Kyle and I stayed in Southern Pines, North Carolina, and naturally reconnected. Kyle told me he was in the process of being medically discharged due to a back injury that had occurred during an airborne jump. He shared with me that in his time of struggle he had grown deeper in his faith with God and that God was the most important part of his life. I loved this about him, as my faith was the most important part of my life. During our week together, we planned many adventures and shared our love for God. After our week ended, we said our goodbyes as good friends, and I left to go back home. Throughout the rest of the year in 2023 I chased after Kyle. I went back and visited him on several occasions and convinced him to meet me in Kentucky and then in Ohio . We shared many adventures, and more importantly we grew together in our faith. We naturally started dating and of course, fell in love. I moved to Cheyenne Wyoming where I could be closer to Kyle and work as a police officer. Kyle then moved to Cheyenne and began working as an Emergency Technician at the Hospital. Our story is a small example of how God’s plans for us are incredible. It is crazy how he designs every moment and detail. I would have never guessed that this is where Kyle and I would be today. I would have never expected that through all the distance a relationship would grow so easily. Always trust in the Lord and he will never fail you.
