Lan Su Chinese Garden
This is one of our favorite spots in portland for a queit walk and some tea and journaling. Stepping into the garden is like stepping into another world - right in downtown Portland! It's also where we got engaged!
Blue Heron French Cheese Company
Continue on Hwy 6 through the coastal mountain range for an hour and you will find yourself in Tillamook. Hike through the rain forest, and visit the beach - then pop into Blue Heron Cheese Company for a sandwich, some cheese, and other local goods. There is also a petting zoo! We stopped here on our first trip to the coast together, and played music here in January.
Kava Saia
Kava Saia is a social, bar/lounge atmosphere with a focus on alternatives to booze. Tea and kava are on the menu here. Kyle co-hosts a monthly spoken word open mic here, and we find ourselves here often. It doesn't take long to make a couple of friends at Kava Saia.
Tryon Creek State Natural Area
A lovely natural area in SW Portland full of trails and waterfalls. A perfect place to cool off during the summer.
Multnomah Falls
Take a day to explore the Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland where there are 90 waterfalls within 60 miles. Make sure you buy a permit online to park at Multnomah Falls, it get's busy! There are a ton of trails to explore in the area. Ask Iris and Meir (Linoy's folks) for their recent favorites!
Coava Coffee Roasters
This is still one of Kyle's favorite coffee shops in Portland. A nice big, beautiful room to enjoy your coffee with conversation, or journaling.
