On the night of Riverboat, one of the biggest events early in the school year at the University of Portland, we met in Shipstad Hall. We had mutual friends but had not officially met until that September night in 2017. We spent the whole night down on the River Campus together and knew that there was something more, and we started dating soon after that. After many years spent together with Lauren studying to be a nurse and Kyle working at the school newspaper as the sports editor (and editing all of Lauren's nursing papers), we stayed together through college and began our life together in Portland, with Kyle working at UP in the athletic department, Lauren as a ICU nurse, and our cat Minnie Min holding down the fort at home in-between her naps and treat-eating. On January 15, 2025, Kyle popped the question and Lauren said yes! The next phase of our lives had begun, and there was no better place to celebrate than where it all started; on The Bluff overlooking the Willamette with all our loved ones in attendance.
