How We Met

...sort of

Kyle and Kerri were tossed into the wild world of middle school theatre together in about 7th grade. They ran in adjacent circles for the next 6 years, participating in shows together, sharing mutual friends, and learning from the same people. Fast forward 14 years. Kerri and Kyle have lived similar experiences, shared a couple of facebook memories, but largely just existed in orbits that just missed each other. Both having finally found some peace and confidence, they found each other on Hinge (that's a dating app for those of you who wanna make fun of us) during a pandemic, and chatted for a few days. Kerri: You know, you're kind of fun to talk to. Kyle: Yeah? You too. (or something like that) They decided to meet up irl (in real life) and had a 7 hour long first date on the courthouse lawn, and haven't spent more than a day apart since then.

The Proposal

In the quiet of the week after Christmas 2020, Kyle booked a private helicopter to pick them up from the romantic picnic at the park that was an obvious front for a HUGE gesture that would begin to unfold in the air. While flying over the lake, Kyle pointed down to a river-barge, where a gymnastics group was waiting to spell out "I love you" as they passed over, holding hands. The helicopter landed in a field of snow and wildflowers, where a throne was decorated with rhinestones and gold-leaf. Kyle lead Kerri to the throne, where she was placed gently. When he moved to her side, a flashmob appeared to dance to Newsies and when they finished, Kerri realized that Kyle was no longer standing next to her rhinestone throne, but was in the middle of the flashmob, on his knee, holding out a box. Also, there was a photographer, and videographer, and all five of their cats were there, each in it's own throne, including a specially reinforced throne for Kyle's cat, River. ... Just kidding. That's embarrassing. They had an adult conversation about what marriage means, and how to be good partners to each other, and for each other. Then they shopped on Etsy for an ethically sourced, artisan made ring.

About Our Wedding

We are super exited to celebrate with a very small ceremony on the Winter Solstice 2021, welcoming warmth and the sun back into the seasons, and symbolizing a new start with a focus on inward reflections and strengthening from within. We look forward to celebrating with everyone as it becomes safer to host large gatherings, and we plan to host a celebration on Summer Solstice 2022!
