We both were working as interns on base and happened to go on the same tour of the Air Traffic Control Tower. We briefly chatted about how much we both hate heights. We left to go our separate ways until Jess got home and told her mom about the strikingly handsome boy she met on a tour. Her mom eventually convinced her to find a reason to email him the next day. A few emails and text messages later, we had our first date set up and our love story was off and running!

Kyle and Jess’s mom plotted together to get her outdoors to get scenic pictures of “the moment”. We went for a walk together at Calvert Cliffs. Once we got to a spot that Kyle decided was just right to pop the question, he realized there wasn’t a signal for Jess’s mom to get the camera out. So, he did the only thing he could think of, he awkwardly stood around hoping she would figure it out. Understandably confused about why Kyle was just standing around, Jess started to continue the hike. Kyle decided to just go for it and Jess’s mom would realize it was time to take out the camera. After taking Jess’s hands, he quickly realized it was a mistake not having a speech prepared. He stumbled over his words for a bit, then realized he was still standing. He quickly got down on a knee to pop the question, and she said yes (which is the most important part of this story)!
