We met the modern way, on Hinge, but from the very first messages, it felt anything but ordinary. Our conversations flowed with the ease and comfort of two people who had known each other for years. The more we talked, the more similarities and coincidences we uncovered. It truly felt like our paths must have crossed long before that first swipe. Our first date was at Mr. Paul’s Supper Club in the Backdoor Burger Bar. What we planned to be a quick, casual meeting turned into hours of effortless conversation and laughter. The only interruption? Caley was texting and calling, wondering why Jenny appeared to be at Kyle’s apartment on our very first date. (There are apartments above the restaurant, and location services caused a little confusion!) We couldn’t stop laughing, and Kyle thought it was incredibly sweet that Caley was looking out for her mom. Just thirteen days after connecting, we deleted our dating apps. We knew. And from that moment on, our bond has grown stronger each and every day. Our first summer together, we traveled to Banff, Canada—hands down the most beautiful place we’ve ever been. It was the beginning of many adventures to come. In December 2024, we bought a home together in Lakeville, and in January, we added a new member to our family—our mini golden retriever, Winnie—who joined Jenny’s beloved beagle, Riley. With Kyle working at a school and enjoying summers off, we’ve made it a tradition to explore and hike National Parks across the country. So far, we’ve adventured through parks in North Dakota, Colorado, Florida, and Utah. On July 14, 2025, at sunrise at Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park, Kyle proposed. It was breathtaking, peaceful, and a moment we will cherish forever. This summer, we’re excited to honeymoon in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and continue our tradition later this summer by exploring more national parks in California. Above all, we feel incredibly blessed by the love and support of our children and our beautifully blended family. They mean the world to us. We’re also overjoyed to be welcoming our first grandchild this August, as Kjell and Kenzie prepare to become parents. We can’t wait to begin this new chapter as grandparents and start spoiling that sweet baby. From a simple swipe to a lifetime of adventures, we are so grateful our paths finally—and forever—crossed.
