The plaza is located just four miles northeast of the wedding venue, across the street from the hotel block. You can go shopping, see a movie, or grab some food at one of the many restaurants. We are big fans of Chuy's (for Mexican food), Jack Stack (for BBQ), and the Peanut (for wings).
Feeling "extra?" Looking for an excellent (albeit expensive cocktail)? Head over to the Monarch Room! Their specialty cocktail list reads like a novel. Recommended: West Coast Migration, Carriage Club, The Viceroy, and the Jaliscan Cup. NOT recommended: The Chestnut Tiger (tastes like balsamic dressing :P).
Beautiful grounds and free to visit - inside and out! Beau's favorite is the glass maze - see if you can get out!
They have an excellent tap room and provide tours. Reservation recommended!
One of only two World War I museums is located in downtown Kansas City. Boasting a lovely field of poppies and the best view of downtown, this museum is a great place to spend some time in the city!
Great lunch restaurants and antique shops in the "artsy" part of town. We recommend Blue Nile (Ethiopian), The Bite (sandwiches), City Market Coffee (order a Cubano if you want small and sweet).
Located in a gas station, this is the full KC-BBQ experience. The Z-Man is the best sandwich in town. Be warned, lines can run out the door! Call ahead for a pickup time if you're looking to skip the line.
We love the Mr. Burns sandwich and the beef brisket!
Best for upscale, dine-in BBQ and beef short ribs.
