How to Miss a Match in 24 Hours and Then Fix It a Year LaterHow to Miss a Match in 24 Hours and Then Fix It a Year Later

July 2021 - The First Swipe | September 2022 - The Real Beginning

The story begins back in July 2021, when Hannah was swiping through Bumble from her apartment in San Francisco. After relentless swiping and numerous failed coffee dates, Kyle's profile appeared. To put it in simple terms, it was Hannah's easiest right swipe of all time. Kyle’s profile snuck into Hannah’s queue because he was in San Francisco for a cousin’s wedding reception at the time. Hannah thought she was swiping on a fellow Bay Area guy; however, it turned out that he was actually just visiting from Denver. When Kyle got back to Denver, he swiped right too - completely unaware that Hannah actually lived halfway across the country in San Francisco. And that's when fates aligned, they matched. Hannah messaged Kyle, who made the dumbfounded decision to not respond. Hannah then watched helplessly as the 24-hour countdown expired, like a tiny digital sandglass of doom. Hannah, against her own personal texting policies, double messaged. Kyle eventually replied, but his answer wasn’t exactly the stuff of fairytales. He explained that he actually lived in Denver and much like the McRib, was in San Francisco for a limited time only. Hannah graciously responded, basically saying, “Nice match, goodbye forever, have a nice life” End of story, right? Wrong! Fast forward just over a year later - September 2022. Out of nowhere, Kyle reappeared in Hannah’s DMs, sliding back in like no time had passed at all. His message? "Hi Hannah! I know it's been, well... an entire year, but if you're still single, and are open to it, l'd love to talk to you and get to know you". Hannah then responded saying that she would love to get to know him. After texting back and forth on and off for a couple of months, it finally happened: the FaceTime. What was supposed to be a brief chat turned into a 3 hour conversation. 3 hours! From there, Kyle and Hannah were FaceTiming each other practically every day. Eventually, the day they had both been waiting for came to fruition in January, Kyle flew out and visited Hannah in San Fransisco. By the end of the trip, they had made it official.
