Gracie and Kyle met in Maui at King’s Cathedral. They were always really good friends, but as they spent time together, they grew closer. During the summer of 2017, they took their relationship to the next level when Gracie flew to Oregon from Hawaii for one day to see Kyle, and when Kyle visited Gracie as part of a church conference. As the sun set at the airport on his last day in Maui, Kyle stopped suddenly and asked Gracie "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" She said yes.
While Gracie and Kyle dated long distance, one of their favorite things to do was Facetime each other and watch the sunset together, something that they call 'chasing sunsets.' After eight months, they discussed the possibility of Gracie moving to Oregon and serving in ministry alongside Kyle at King’s Chapel, Lebanon. In May of 2018, she said yes.
In December of 2018, Gracie was beginning to suspect that Kyle was planning to propose. Friends were acting ‘fishy’ and she thought that Kyle might ask her on Christmas morning, her favorite holiday. But he surprised her and proposed during a youth service at church. As part of a fun game they were playing with the youth that morning, Gracie was blindfolded and spun around thirty times. As she opened her eyes, she saw Kyle down on one knee with her grandmother’s ring, surrounded by her friends who had come to witness the proposal. She said yes. #ReadyToReeter
