The Proposal

The first thing I did when I knew I wanted to marry Eve was to ask her parents for their blessing. I was eventually able to line up some time to come by her parents house to speak with them. I knew she would think it was strange I was going over there, so to throw her off I offered to drop off a TV for them at their house. I ultimately got her parents blessing and I told them it was very important to me that both of our parents are part of the proposal. What they didn't know was that it would be in Paris, but they were thrilled with the idea. Eve and I were taking a trip to Europe and one of the stops was going to be Paris so that was the ideal timing. Isabelle, Eve's mom, is a flight attendant for Delta and has the flight to Paris often so she was able to scout some beautiful locations to pop the question. My parents had never been to Europe but were excited for the opportunity and to take part in the surprise. Our parents set up travel to England together and took the train down to Paris the same day as Eve and I arrived. All this while keeping this a secret from Eve was no easy task. On the day we arrived to Paris, I texted our parents (from the bathroom) to make sure we were a go. I didn't hear back from my parents for a long time, I started to worry (come to find out they were having a great time and didn't want to "bother" me). All the plans were aligned for the next morning so I set my alarm for an early rise. My alarm went off pretty early and I told Eve I had planned us "a private guided tour of Paris". She thought that was weird because I love to sleep in but she was game. We headed out walking to the gardens behind the Eiffel tower where I told her we were meeting our tour guide. Unbeknownst to me there was a barrier up so we had to take the long way around so we were running late. As we were walking through the gardens I pointed to our parents that were waiting for us and said "there's your tour guides" and proposed. The 6 of us spent the day in Paris.
