A big thank you to all who were able to attend our wedding! We understand that due to COVID-19 many of our family members and friends were unable to join us on the day. We are still actively assessing the situation around the pandemic; to decide on a better time for us all to celebrate together. Unfortunately, we are unsure when this will be. When the day comes when it is safe for us to all be together, we will be sending forward an invitation for a party! Not only will we be able to celebrate our marriage, but also making it through these crazy times! We will keep everyone informed about the time and place once things are decided. Thank you again for everyone's well-wishes, love, and patience. In the meantime, please enjoy the photos from our wedding day! Love Kyle and Emily ___________________________________
Love at first sight is a completely unrealistic concept...but there are instances where as soon as you see someone, you are overwhelmed with a desire to get to know them. As soon as Emily walked into the Slippery Rock theater for the first reading of Dead Man's Cell Phone, Kyle leaned over to one his friends and asked, "what's her story?" But because of other circumstances, their paths wouldn't align for a couple more months.
After the show's success, Dead Man's Cell Phone had been approved to be showcased at The American College Theater Festival. Emily expressed her concerns of getting back to school after Christmas and New Year's to a group of her friends when Kyle overheard her. It just so happened that Kyle's family lived nearby hers in Pennsylvania. Her mother Robin was nervous when dropping her off at their home, as a nasty snow storm loomed. But Kyle and his parents reassured her of her daughter's safety. Robin was relieved, though still tried to check in on Emily. It took her an hour before she responded, "I'm sorry, we've been deep in a conversation this whole time."
The winter semester had come and Kyle couldn't wait to ask Emily out any longer. He and his friends crafted a plan to "borrow" her music book during rehearsal of The Robber Bridegroom. After she had gotten it back that late afternoon, she found a post-it note that asked, "Would you like to see Company in Pittsburgh with me?" She responded with an excited "yes!" and that was that. It was a shame that both of them HATED the show Company itself, but they had a great time making fun of it while complimenting the set on the way back to Slippery Rock.
Our relationship has been through every stage of its ups and downs: through petty drama, heated arguments, and eighteen hours of distance. But we've never lost sight of what's important, and that's each other. Since finally moving in together in 2017, we have seen each other grow in ways which we are extremely proud of. Kyle's strength and honesty has enhanced the sense of confidence Emily strives for, while Emily's empathy and kindness makes Kyle work to be the best version of himself.
We've had a blast living together and talking about what's yet to come. In summer 2019 we adopted an adorable hell-raiser named Laila, for whom we've had a rough and rewarding time dog-training. On top of that, our love of Dungeons and Dragons has grown into a mountain of miniatures, dice, and books; we've never felt the same kind of passion and creativity for any game other than this one. We want to thank you all for taking the time to read our story. Life has been harder than ever for many people this year, and we are looking forward to having just one more day where people can feel happy.
