If you’re coming from out of town make sure you book a car and a hotel or VRBO as soon as you can. Summer in Alaska is busy and it can be really hard to find accommodations if you wait to book. There are also a few companies in Anchorage that rent fleets of motorhomes in different sizes and styles. This seems like a fun option if you are planning to check out more of Alaska while you are up here. Also, you could camp at the pass with us :) https://www.cruiseamerica.com/rv-rental-locations/alaska/anchorage https://www.abcmotorhome.com Please reach out if you have any questions about where to stay or need help finding a place. We are so excited to see our family and friends from the Lower 48 and want to make the trip as easy as possible for you.
It depends. We are more than happy to get you from the airport and shuttle you the 40 miles to Girdwood but Alaska is huge and there are many really cool things to see and do nearby that require a car to get to. Girdwood itself is pretty small and easily navigable on foot, by bike or by riding the free shuttle around town. Also, we are getting married another 20 miles from Girdwood. It should be easy to organize a carpool up to the pass on the day of if needed. Keep in mind, other than the small Mercantile, the nearest grocery shopping is in Anchorage.
Absolutely! We will have something set up for the kids - more on that later - and they can rally in the tundra. Juniper and Alden will be heading back to Girdwood at bedtime with the Grandparents so we can focus on dancing all night. If that’s a possibility for you I highly recommend it.
Yes, we are taking over the snowmachine parking lot! It is very important to us that our friends do not drive home impaired so bring your camper, trailer or tent if you want to party all night. If you decide to head back to Girdwood, please arrange a ride to make sure you get home safe.
We are getting married in Turnagain Pass, about 20 miles from Girdwood and there is very limited cell service. Please do not count on being able to communicate from the wedding location.
Alaska Formal- (fancy clothes mostly covered with fleece or down coats and sensible footwear) We will be married outdoors, rain or shine, but we will have a few big tents set up in case the weather is more rain than shine. Kyle and I will be dressed up more than usual (which isn’t saying much) and Juniper will probably be wearing a ball gown.
