In most “finding romance” stories, when you meet the person you will one day marry, you at least have an idea that “this is it”. In our love story, the first time we dated was anything but. In fact, we began sort of briefly dating in high school. When I say “dating”, I mean we only saw each other outside of school where we would have few word conversations and do nothing actual couples do. Fast forward to after high school. I would occasionally recieve texts from him but i would easily get angry at him and not speak to him for a long time. Then I got pregant at 21 with my daughter Leila. I was single and co-parenting. I recieved an unexpected congratulations message on facebook from him when I had my daughter. It was surprising and touching. A couple months later after a breakup, I actually found him on a dating site when he messaged me in surprise that he found me on there. Needless to say, I was a bit embarrassed. Although, it was embarrassing, we have been together ever since. When he proposed, we had only been dating for three months. That day was nearly 6 years ago now which is hard to believe! I kinda knew he was going to propose because Kyle is really bad with surprises haha He made dinner and set up the table and was dressed up. I wore a pink and blue dress. He made it very intimate and included my daughter in it which I loved. This man, whom I couldn’t stand when we were younger, ended up saving me in a way. He was there for me and my daughter when he did not have to be. I am thankful for him everyday even though I may not always say it. Now we have a son together and I feel blessed to have the family that I have with him.
