Kyle & Adriel first met in January of 2005 at the ski hill. Kyle was known to Adriel as the obnoxious 13 year old boy loudly blowing a kazoo. Adriel was known to Kyle as the coach's daughter with pretty eyes. Over the next few years, they skied together, becoming each others cheerleaders on the hill- learning, coaching, and challenging each other to be the best skiers. Kyle even broke his arm trying to chase Adriel down the Iron Mountain slalom course at States. That's not the only time Kyle chased Adriel. He went on to join the Powers High School cross country team so they could hangout more... even though Kyle hated (and still hates) running. In 2007 they went to the homecoming dance “as friends” and danced like crazy people to Sandstorm and Cyclone easily becoming the most sweaty people on the floor.

Months later, 17 year old Kyle finally got the guts to ask Adriel to be his girlfriend at Mt. Holly after ski practice. They had fun going to movies, concerts, games, and singing to Ben Folds Five & Dave Matthews in the Egner's old Tahoe (until the battery died and Pappy had to come and jump it). They would downhill ski in the winters and water ski up north in the summers. They both found themselves at MSU (Go Green!) where they joined the waterski team together (and got an excellent education). They made a close knit group of waterski friends that they love like family. Adriel graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science and Kyle graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's in both Human Biology and Chemical Engineering. They kept their relationship grooving while Adriel lived in Chicago for physical therapy school for a few years... Kyle would make the trek regularly to see and sometimes surprise his favorite person. They soaked up all that Chicago had to offer from 4am jazz bars to calming walks along Lake Michigan. Their fun, exciting weekend reunions made the long train rides and drives worth it.

This was their first, but not their last experience with long distance, as Adriel selected physical therapy clinicals in Oregon and Lake Tahoe. It was the perfect excuse to backpack together in the coolest places and it further fueled their love for adventure and each other. In 2016, Kyle accepted a position at NC State as a PhD candidate in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. They made the move together to Raleigh, NC where Adriel started her career as a physical therapist and Kyle began his research. Since living in the beautiful city of Raleigh, they've bought a house, explored nearly all of the breweries, met wonderful groups of friends, rock climbed a lot, water skied some, and became two-season Kickball champions alongside their beloved teammates (who equally enjoy beer and a lil friendly competition). In March they took a fabulous family ski trip to Breckenridge where Kyle proposed! Kyle and Adriel have had an exciting journey together so far and can't wait to celebrate their union in marriage with all of their favorite people.
