Things To Do

A few of our favorite things, these are some great places to go if you have time for an excursion or two. If you stay in Granbury, be sure to check out the Historic Granbury Square for some shopping, good food, and a bit of history. If you'd like to explore a little wider, Fort Worth is a wonderful place to go!
Granbury Opera House

Granbury Opera House

133 East Pearl Street, Granbury, TX 76048
, (817) 579-0952

Nutshell Eatery & Bakery

137 East Pearl Street, Granbury, TX 76048
, (817) 279-8989

This is Kyle's favorite place to eat breakfast, hands down - it even beats out Chimera Brewery (that's big!) Everything is home cooked and delicious, you can't go wrong!

Artefactz

118 North Houston Street, Granbury, TX 76048
, (817) 573-9446

Owner/Artist Cynthia James has one of the most original stores on the square. Katlin had a gallery showing here, and you can find a few of Marigold Trading Co.'s items around. It's a great place to find items for the upcoming holidays.

Dinosaur Valley State Park

1629 Park Road 59, Glen Rose, TX 76043
, (254) 897-4588

If you have time to travel a bit, Glen Rose is 40 minutes by car from Granbury, and this State Park is a treasure trove of fossils, preserved dino tracks and beautiful Texas scenery. The river is a cool blessing during our hot fall weather. Heads up though, unlike Missouri, Texas parks charge $5 - $7 a person for entry.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

2299 County Road 2008, Glen Rose, TX 76043
, (254) 897-2960

The BEST place to go for kiddos, drive through a Texas Safari and feed giraffes, zebra, gazelle, and so many more.

Fort Worth Zoo

1989 Colonial Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76110
, (817) 759-7555

Fort Worth Botanic Garden

3220 Botanic Garden Boulevard, Fort Worth, TX 76107
, (817) 392-5510

Fort Worth Stockyards

130 East Exchange Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76164
, (817) 624-4741

Yes, they do still drive cows through the roads on occasion, but, except for very rarely when some stockyard beasties escape, it's usually for show. There's dancing and live music, shopping and a nightly rodeo put on at the stockyards - don't let it pass you by!

The N at Hardway Ranch

20194 U.S. 377, Bluff Dale, TX 76433
, (817) 408-6058

We definitely want to get the Main Event's location on the map - The N at Hardaway is about 20 minutes out of Granbury, just the other side of a tiny, blink-you-miss-it town called Bluff Dale. We can't wait to see everyone there - come ready to party!

Splash Kingdom Wild West

1001 Cinema Drive, Weatherford, TX 76087
, (817) 598-0777

Texas has a way of surprising us with the weather, but early September days are traditionally HOT - Splash Kingdom is an option for the littles to cool down a bit before or after the festivities Saturday night.

Benbrook Stables

10001 Benbrook Boulevard, Fort Worth, TX 76126
, (817) 249-1001

I kind of feel like it would be a missed opportunity not to share a place for horseback rides - if you're coming to Texas, why not do a trail ride through some gorgeous country side?

Clark Gardens

567 Maddux Rd, Weatherford, TX 76088
, (940) 682-4856

This is one of our favorite places to go - 50 acres of gorgeous gardens started by a couple who loved gardening almost as much as they loved each other. Kyle believes it hosts the best rose garden he has ever seen, and since it stands as Texas A&M's primary rose test garden, most tend to agree! It has an amazing miniature train station smack dab in the center of the gardens, peacocks, and some really awesome water features. It's a definite 'don't miss it' on our list!
