How We Met

Kyle was born and raised in New Jersey, and Alexis in Binghamton, NY. Their paths crossed when the two became neighbors for a short time in 2015. Kyle was couch surfing at his friend Joe's apartment while completing his pharmacy residency and Alexis was in the next-door apartment completing her Physician Assistant degree at Rutgers University. Even though they "lived" next door to one another, they only met when Alexis was in need of rescue from a wasp that had gotten into her apartment. She called Joe for help, but found Kyle instead who became her knight in shining armor and rescued her from the peril of the wasp. It was a short-lived rescue mission, but the connection between the two was immediate. Alexis will tell you she knew right when she opened the door and saw Kyle for the first time that they would have a future together. They began to spend a lot of time with one another exploring the parks around the area, in Kyle's attempt to show Alexis that NJ was more than just the armpit of America and truly the " Garden Sate". Those early days of adventure and exploration set the tone for the rest of the relationship. Their love of nature and the great outdoors has led them far beyond the state parks of New Jersey, taking them to National Parks in Maine, Colorado, Wyoming, and of course Montana.

Why Montana?

"I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.” - John Steinbeck Mount Tammany in NJ was the first mountain we ever scaled as a couple. Next was Cascade Mountain in the Adirondacks. Then, Pemetic Mountain in Acadia National Park. After that, we left the East Coast and headed to Colorado where we hiked up to Emerald Lake up at 10,110 feet. Colorado did something to us, aside from making us hypoxic. Hiking in the snow-covered rocky mountains brought our love for the outdoors to a whole new level. We dreamed of getting married with the mountains as our backdrop, but quickly gave up on this dream after having such horrible altitude sickness that we went to a shady oxygen bar in an attempt to find temporary relief from our pounding headaches and fatigue. We then set our sights on a place that offered spectacular views without the elevation: Montana. Our trip to Montana in June of 2019 was unforgettable. The same feelings we had around the mountains in Colorado rushed back to us as we drove through Glacier National Park and then through Paradise Valley. We knew in our hearts that this was where we wanted to exchange our vows, committing our lives to one another. Although a trip to Montana is a big request for our friends and family, it will be a unique experience and one that we hope you will embrace. Enjoying and exploring nature has been an integral part of our relationship from the very beginning and we hope that you will join us in an important part of our life as we climb our next mountain together: Marriage. -Kyle
