Our Story

It had to stick!

We met in Jacksonville while Reid was in school for Commercial Diving and Stacy was in between colleges working at an architecture firm. Our first date was quite an experience. It was a double date that Reid set up. The night was going smoothly with good dinner, good conversation, and several games of corn hole (Stacy was winning). Reid and Stacy were just starting to get to know each other when... the other couple broke up! The rest of the evening was a little odd. Kyle and Stacy continued to date, learning more about each other. But after only a few short months, Reid completed Dive School and moved back to Pennsylvania. The fledgling relationship was put to a test. Stacy and Reid dated long distance for another three and a half years! Reid in Maine and Pennsylvania, and Stacy in South Carolina and Florida. We had to adapt and learn to love from a far. We learned that any relationship that can withstand the test of absence from each other has a foundation that cannot be shaken, shattered or brought down by anything.

Engagement

"How to Get Engaged" by Kyle Reid Folkers

Objective: Be original, shoot guns, get engaged, 'Merica Plan A: Step 1 - make three signs/targets for proposal (Sign 1: "Stacy, will you marry me?" Sign 2: "Yes" Sign 3: "No") Step 2 - trick Stacy into thinking we are doing redneck stuff and just shooting rifles, shotguns, pistols Step 3 - acquire guns, targets, exploding targets, ammo Step 3.1 - fail to acquire Barrett .50 caliber rifle with long range scope Step 4 - have a couple drinks with Stacy at lunch so I don't have a panic attack Step 5 - don't loose the ring Step 5.1 - almost loose the ring, review step 5 Step 6 - get to location, meet up with friends to sell illusion that it's a normal outing in Pennsylvania Step 7 - set signs/targets with explosive target behind the "Yes" sign Step 7.1 - make sure signs are at a distance where you can only read them through a long range scope (the one we didn't acquire in step 3.1) Step 8 - distract Stacy because the friends who are setting up the signs are talking about the engagement and the wind is clearly carrying their voices Step 9 - load rifle, tell Stacy she's up first Step 9.1 - say "Ok Honey now there are three targets out there, before shooting I want you to look at all three" Step 10 - wait patiently while Stacy reads the signs (maybe give her time to cry a little before she blasts the "Yes" sign with explosive charges) Step 11 - continue waiting Step 12 - ask her what is wrong Step 12.1 - she can't read the signs... Step 13 - ask her to try again Step 13.1 - she still can't read the signs... Step 14 - jdkfeikavie!!!!! Step 15 - break down and tell her what the signs say (make sure to say the green one says "Yes") Step 16 - she shoots! Step 16.1 - wonder why there is no explosion Step 17 - let her shoot four more times Step 17.1 - try not to cry Step 18 - abort Plan A Plan B: Step 1 - Ring out, knee down, ask her to marry me. Step 1.1 - Get a "YES!" Step 2 - Check those darn signs (She hit the "Yes" sign AND the explosive 4 out of the 5 shots)
