It's Happening!

Before it all began, in 2022, I shared with Kyle, one of my FAVORITE things to do in Budapest, Hungary; Hike "The Hill" and watch as the sun sets, and the city lights up. Conveniently, I told him, "The perfect place for a proposal …” 😉. Spring of 2023, we embarked on Kyle's first backpacking trip through Europe. I was in control of EVERYTHING… mwahaha. Being that I was the boss, I was really excited to show him some of my favorite places and adventure to some newbies along the way. Being that Budapest is my favorite place in the world, naaaaaturally, we found ourselves there for my 26th birthday. Hehe. IMAGINE THIS: Two weeks… five countries… SO much unpacking, repacking and airport security checks… Kyle kept that ring hidden. Myself, despite feeling soooo sick during our whole trip, we still found ourselves adventuring up this big hill to ensure we could see this sunset. Now, I’ve trekked up this hill 3 times before, so I am relatively familiar with how to get to the top. But this time, for some reason, we took an alternative route that I wasn’t familiar with, which led to construction roadblocks, which then pushed us to “off road” our adventure. We had to be incredibly careful as to where to step so we didn’t bust an ankle, forcing us to hang on to branches for dear life, all to ensure we didn’t tumble and fall off the side to our demise. To extra add, we had to stop frequently just so I could breathe through my stuffed-up face. SO FUN. But Kyle held my hand the whole way and assured me we were gonna make it. When we finally reached the top, I wanted to take pictures before it got too dark. I was met with a nervous sounding, "Oh, already? Okay..." - Kyle set up his phone and told me to look off into the distance. The guide to the perfect Instagram picture. After standing there for so long, I asked, “did you get it?”, and turned around to see, my love, down on one knee, with that beautiful ring in hand. Disclaimer: I saw him out of the corner of my eye before I turned around, because I was STANDING THERE FOR SO LONG, so I knew it was coming 😉. It took a few minutes after the Yes, for it to set in what had really happened; A dream come true. I ugly cried 😭 over the edge of the hill and now we’re here crying over the prices of the wedding.
