I met Katelyn in September of 2021 at the start of the school year. I lived in Antioch House, a christian mens house at OSU, which happened to be next to the christian girls house, Charis. Katelyn moved into Charis at the beginning of my second year at Antioch. It was love at first sight ... at least for me. Our first real conversation happened on the way back from an OSU football game. We both got separated from our groups because everyone rushed the field after the game. I saw her standing at the entrance to the stadium and I knew it was my chance to talk to her. So as any gentleman would do, I asked her if she wanted to walk back to the house with me. I'm sure she didn't notice but after that conversation I was in love. For the next two terms I would spend as much time as I could with her going on walks, climbing, and doing homework. At the beginning of Spring term we officially started dating.
In June of 2024 Katelyn joined my family on a trip to Lake Coeur d'Alene. When she let me know she was going on the trip I knew proposing at the edge of the lake at sunset would make for a romantic proposal. I wanted us both to look good for the proposal so for the first (and probably only) time in my life I asked Katelyn if she would want to take some pictures together while we were at the lake. She said yes, so my plan was in motion. After spending most of the day swimming and paddle boarding we decided to look for a spot to take pictures. We found a good spot and started shooting away. When sunset came we danced with each other. I got down on one knee and asked Katelyn if she would marry me. She said yes and now the rest is history.
