We matched on Hinge in November of 2022, and our first date was a hockey game on December 9th. Nothing says romance like overpriced nachos and guys missing teeth. But the date that changed everything came a little later… Fast forward to our fourth date—a spontaneous, last-minute decision to head to the GA Southern bowl game in Montgomery, AL right after Christmas. We took the Tessie, and Kyle—being the organized man he is—had his wallet attached to the back of his phone. (Yes, you already know where this is going. First mistake. Rookie move.) The night before the game, Kyle left his phone and wallet in the Uber. And because he drives a Tesla, this means he also lost his car key since it is your phone. So there we were: stranded in Montgomery, with no phone, no wallet, no ID, no car key…and somehow, still no meltdown. Kyle stayed calm, cool, and collected, which is a miracle because I would’ve been spiraling like a tornado in a Dollar General. He says I was patient and didn’t abandon him, but let’s be real—he deserves the award for keeping it together while his entire life’s essentials disappeared in a strange city. That trip taught us more about each other than any “get to know you” question ever could, and it’s where I realized I’d found the man I was going to marry. (Also, Montgomery: you’ll always have a weirdly special place in our hearts.) Bonus: that trip also fast-tracked me to meeting his mini-me, Brooks, which made my heart even fuller. Kyle proposed this summer on my first cruise and our first out of country vacation where he didn’t lose the ring. I said yes, obviously and now we can’t wait to celebrate with all of you in April 2026!
