I was home for the summer after my freshman year of college, just working my summer job at the bank. I was minding my own business, and along comes Cyrus (through someone else's line). I just happened to have a minute and jumped over to help him. We finished our banking business, and probably an hour later I had a new friend request from a familiar face. We chatted for a few days before we finally met in person, and went on our first date. Still to this day he loves to tell people that I agreed to go out with him even after I saw his checking account (lol).
Cyrus finally asked to meet my in person, and little did I know that meant meeting all of his friends too! Our first date was less of a date and more of a building project... He took me to Jared's house (The best man) to see the new boat (raft...) that they were building. I should have known then the kind of trouble I was in for. After meeting all of the friends, Cyrus promised a proper date the next day, where he took me to the movies, and after, I gave him driving lessons... LOL FYI: You do have to yield to oncoming traffic to turn left at a green light...
On September 9th, 2019 we welcomed the most precious baby girl into our lives. Isla Anne: AKA. Bean, Nugget, BeanTown, etc. Our beautiful girl is the star of the show wherever she goes, constantly making friends out of strangers, and bringing joy to everyone around her. Together we have been through so many firsts, we've had so many laughs, so many sleepless nights, but we wouldn't change it for the world. We are truly grateful to have such a blessing in our lives.
Cyrus has always had a piece of his heart stuck in Franklin, so much so that he has been daydreaming about the picturesque house on the hill. For months Cyrus would go on and on about this beautiful piece of land, with the perfect view of the mountains that he wanted to take me to see, so that I would consider building a house out there. Well, one day we were driving home and Isla was taking a nap in the truck, so I just suggested that it would be a great day to finally check out the land, just so Isla could sleep a little bit longer. Cyrus was kind of taken by surprise, though agreed to go. We got up to Franklin and drove through an old corn field, way up to the top of this hill and put the truck in park. He wasn't kidding about the view. We sat in awe of the mountains, the foliage was just perfect that day. We daydreamed together and talked about what we would do with the land. Cyrus casually said to me "Wouldn't this be a great place for a wedding, how about next year?"... Being the sarcastic one of the couple I replied "Yeah...you know you have to ask first right?"...Well, he pulled out a box, with the most beautiful ring, and that's exactly what he did.
We will be married on June 19th, 2021 at the Swiss and Bloom Farm in Enosburg, Vermont, just minutes from where I grew up. We can't wait to celebrate with you all!
