John's POV

#ShesTheKwon

I first saw Kristina standing in front of our church congregation as she was being welcomed as a new church member. Her beauty was a sight to behold, and the post-sermon, mid-afternoon slumber was suddenly cured. I prayed that God would allow me the chance get to know her. Luckily for me, out of 14-15 possible options she was assigned to be in the same small group as me. It certainly seemed like God had listened to my prayers. Over time, our bond started to grow fonder and stronger. Despite my sudden relocation to Georgia for a year, we remained in touch and decided that we belonged together on February 3rd, 2023 (Thank you God!) Although, our first biggest obstacle was the distance, United Airlines took great care of me. Over time and through God's guidance, our love truly blossomed into something greater than ourselves. Eventually, I found myself on my knee to propose to Kristina in San Diego (near Sunset Cliff) on February 10th, 2024. Since then, I have learned what it means to be a great partner thanks to Kristina's patience and love. And we cannot wait to celebrate with you all on our special day when we say "I do".

Kristina's POV

#HesTheKwon

It was one of my first Sundays at a new church. Service ended- which meant it was now time for this new girl to drag her feet through the awkward transition towards the small group classrooms surrounded by seas of strangers. Eventually, I found the right door, took a deep breath, and stepped inside—frazzled, flustered, and blushing like the ripest tomato in the patch. Immediately, I locked eyes with someone. Big eyes. Sharp nose. Huh, not too shabby. That “not too shabby” guy turned out to be Seungjai—funny, social, and surprisingly easy to talk to. Thanks to his (let’s be honest—very) persistent efforts to chat with the awkward new girl, we quickly discovered we had a lot in common and became fast friends. As our friendship deepened, I saw firsthand how caring Seungjai was. He wasn’t just talk when it came to loving others—he genuinely lived out his faith. Over time, we both realized there was something more between us. There was just one catch: we’d have to start long-distance. And for someone like me, that was never part of the plan (even if, yes, Georgia isn’t that far). But per usual, God had other plans. During our first year apart, Seungjai showed up—literally—every two weeks to visit. His love was consistent and intentional, proving time and time again that love isn’t about proximity, but about effort. Even when he moved back to NOVA, his efforts never wavered. In all the small—but somehow big—ways, he continued to show his constant thoughtful affection and care for me. And so, just like the speed of our United mileage racking up, our love also grew. Until one day, on February 10th, 2024, Seungjai got down on one knee, looked up at me with those same big eyes (just a little bit shiner and glossed this time), and confessed his love—not just in words, but in a promise for forever.
